Exploring Membership

Client: British Exploring Society
Workshops: 3, online
Participants: 20
Collaborators: Cecilia Martin

This commission was to create a series of online workshops for the British Exploring Society’s membership community, to develop more engagement with ideas - from Members, for Members.

  • A small but committed group of Members were already actively engaged, but our challenge was to discover how the charity could foster a community in which all Members feel able to contribute in their own way, actively drive Membership, and connect with and learn from one another.

  • After our three sessions together, we had a great springboard of ideas from Members, for Members. With some clear plans in place for next steps and volunteers for certain strands, the membership crew had a new level of motivation moving forwards.

  • The only way to empower people within a membership is to listen to them first and foremost, as well as create a connection amongst the group through smaller break-out groups and creative ideation games that allow people to feel liberated in their thinking.
